    Nothing like going to BLM...

And seeing the place just flat out littered. My friend and I went shooting today and we were both pretty PO'ed at the mess that we found. We filled up his SUV of crap when we were done but it barely made a difference. Here is a picture of what the place looked like when we arrived:

A place down by the US/Mexico border about an hour and half east of downtown San Diego. The original spot we went to the Border Patrol had temporarily closed off since they were conducting operations down range, but they were more than helpful at helping us locate an alternative shooting spot (which is the one pictured).

Disappointing...I'm ashamed that someone I know (not by choice) took old paint cans out to the desert and shot them. Not empty paint cans mind you.

It's one thing to find broken glass, which you might expect, but paint that's months old that's formed a block, old stuffed animals, TVs, wtf?

The place I went to with this acquaintance, I saw at least three TVs just on the way to the spot. Kind of sad. Does anyone know a decent BLM spot not too far from Rancho Cucamonga/Fontana area (210 and the 15) that's rifle and pistol appropriate? Sorry to hijack.

Not all gun owners are Calgunners, if you catch my drift. Stuff like this gets shooting spots shut down...for good.

Sean - Good stuff for loading up your buddy's SUV with all that crap. I'm sure that's not how you wanted to spend some of your shooting time, but you did us all a favor.

I go dirt bike riding in the desert just a bit east of there, same thing. Every time I set up camp I walk around and pick up several bags of trash.

This is exactly the kind of thing that will get shooting/riding areas closed.

I found a big piece of bullet proof glass at the place where I go shooting. It was too heavy for me do anything so I just left it there.

The place is called the Carrizo Creek Range, otherwise known as the Jacumba Range. They have held some massive cleanups before, but some people are just idiots and use the range as a dump for large items they want to shoot.

Yeah my friend an I were pretty PO'ed. We did reuse some of the targets in addition to our own as someone left a perfectly good paper target and standout there and the closest shot to the center was just outside of the marked area. So not only are they jerks for littering, they can't shoot worth crap either.

Just wrong, I bring garbage bags when I go to BLM and my kids and I end up filling them with other folks garbage. Its a sham

How about organizing a range cleanup session to help take care of a bit more of it? Kudos to you for taking out stuff already - that's great and very much appreciated - but as you mentioned, the place needs even more work.
