My parents gave me a .22 rifle when I was about 12 years old, I still have it. The first rifle that I bought new was a Browning BAR. It was stolen, I got it back and it was stolen a second time from my uncle's house. ( both times it was stolen by distant family members ) I bought my first handgun, a S&W model 19 in 1981, I still have it and still shoot it.

Still have the 1951 (my birthday) Winchester 94 30 30 my dad gave me as a kid
I don’t still have the first gun I purchased
Don’t even remember what it was
Was likely 50 years agoComment

Ruger Standard (pre-Mark I) .22 LR
My Dad held onto it while I was on USN active duty
Reclaimed it from him after getting out
Still shoot it but not often as it's pretty much shot out. I picked up another one earlier this year and shoot it instead.
Nothing for the "bonus round".I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

I have a MKII as well (bought new).
IMHO the MKlI have the best classic look, and they shoot great. You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

I didn't buy them, but my first firearm was a hand me down from my older brother - a single shot .22 JC Higgins rifle, made by Marlin for Sears with a manual cocking piece at the rear of the bolt. My first centerfire was a gift from my Uncle Bill - a "sporterized" 1917 Enfield in .30-06, along with a couple hundred rounds of surplus ammo and 2 boxes of Winchester Super X soft points. I haven't shot either one in years.Comment

Still got it. Taurus PT99-AFD, bought used from Pony Express by the Van Nuys Airport in 1995. Thing is a tack driver and I still shoot it. I even bought its older brother, a PT92 (no decocker). It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.Comment
