SAIGA Rifle prices. confusing?

sorry if this is a noob question but thats exactly what it may be since im new to all this.

Ive been looking for a rifle to own and have come across the Saiga .223 which i like. but trying to find the right price for one of these has got me going bonkers.

I can see it go from $350-$450 new depending on what site or shop i am searching. then I see private party sales for the same rifle older/newer for prices starting at $400-$650....why are used rifles priced a little more than new ones?

i dont mean to shizzle on anyones thread in the pp sales but why the price fluctuation with this certain rifle?

It used to be difficult to get them and now supply is catching up with demand and some sellers are holding out to get the most amount of money they can.

Yup. I even remember passing on a .223 Saiga from Hector at CWS for $275 out the door.

Damn, I bang my head against the wall everytime I think about that offer I passed up.

People who stocked up when the demand was high (and prices even higher) are now trying to limit their losses and even make money from their indiscriminate buying habits. dont feed them!

You can buy from online dealer and pay shipping and extra DROS at receiving FFL. Sometimes as much as $65 on top of the $25 DROS fee for a total as high as $90 or more. (you need to research this with your FFL before you ship a firearm to them) (some will charge sales tax too, again check with our FFL)

Or buy from a local dealer and pay most likely a higher retail price and sales tax, plus $25 DROS.

Or you can do a PPT from a local seller (sometimes NIB) and pay $35 DROS and no sales tax.

That is pretty much the equation on all firearms. Figure out your net and any other extra value you might recieve from each outlet.

A Saiga 223 should run you at MOST, RIGHT NOW, $485 after DROS. Anything past that is lunacy.

I'm seeing 223 and 7.62x39 Saigas going for as low as $300 just recently, before shipping, DROS, CA dealer fee and tax.

Some who bought at ridiculous prices during the peak of the "newb panic buying" bubble are asking for $500-$600 in the hopes of finding another sucker to recover their money from.

These things are almost like Mosins to me! To have only one and no spare to tinker and tool around with seems....odd....No bubba jobbing, just restoration to original spec.

i don't believe prices will go back down that low because I though a vendor posted saying the wholesale prices have gone up on them.
