Yeah, I was checking out Chabot's website for info on their range rules, as I've never been there before. From what I read, they seem anal about everything, so I was like F-that - don't think I'll ever want to go there to get possibly chewed out by range nazis. The RO's at Metcalf have always been cool to me, so I'm gonna stick with that place.

I just got myself a Barrett M82 .50BMG sniper rifle, and I must say, this thing is f***ing huge, in everything: size, weight, accuracy, power, etc. etc.

Got it tested at my local firing range this afternoon, and the gun was so loud they kicked me out, lol.

Wait till you are next to one at the range! I pretty much shot only when the guy was cleaning out the barrel.

Laguna Seca allows 50BMG rifles. 200 yards paper, 300 gong.

He probanly bought the reciever last year and has been waiting for it to get assembled into a complete rifle.

Now he has a complete rifle to register...ehem.. right

I have fired my Barrett 82a1 and Serbu BFG-50 at the Metcalf 100 yard range without any complaints from the range officers. As long as I don't blow up a cow on the hillside, they don't mind it.

At Metcalf they allow 50's anytime. Really cool range officers. I have a blast there often with my 50.

Chabot is only Monday and they're pricks about it. So they can go F-themselves.

Last time I checked, Coyote Point allowed them. But they're sometimes iffy depending on how you look. I'd check with them first.

I feel safe at Chabot. I love the safe feeling, but there is something about the attitude of the range officers or just the general feel of the place that bothers me. Once, they asked if I wanted the big bullseye (because I am young) and that bothered me. It was their tone of voice. I'm thinking about trying the Livermore and Los Altos ranges from now on, because I have heard good things about them. I would also like to take some pictures while at the range (of my own stuff), and Chabot doesn't seem to allow that.

As for 50s, I have not seen anyone shoot them there, but someone was shooting what I think was a .338 right next to me and the blast was horrendous. I would be about to pull the trigger and feel this pressure wave hitting my face. But they started giving a warning before they fired, and they were letting the barrel cool between shots, so it wasn't bad. I could only imagine what a .50 would feel like.
