I had Gunfighter Tactical mount a scope. Good job, pretty cheap.

Don't have any place mount a scope if they don't also do a gun fitting with you at the same time the scope is being mounted.
When I mount scopes, I put the shooter in the position they plan to shoot the most and we use the actual shooter to determine where the scope needs to be mounted.
When someone else mounts a scope for you and you are not there, how are they checking that the scope is right for you?
The answer is that they are not.

Your local Sportsman Warehouse can do that for you.

If you are not there to get into shooting position, you cannot properly set the eye relief of the scope. You need to be at the highest magnification so the eye box is the smallest. You also need to get into multiple positions to make sure you have the best compromise in eye relief. If you set up for prone, the scope will be further forward than standing erect.

Nothing beats being self reliant and learning more aspects to gun ownership. Buy the tools (don't need many) and do it yourself. The tools and knowledge you acquire over the years, especially with firearms, become invaluable with whatever you purchase in the future.

Spend the money and do it yourself man.

                    BongFoo,

Doing it yourself has advantages as TommyGun said. However, if you're not in a position to do that, there are two comments I would like to make.

                    1. Being there to set eye relief is very important.
                    2. Whoever does the work should lap the rings.

                    Best of luck!

Yes, I have always mounted my own scopes. It is pretty straight-forward, basic tools required. Just take your time and it will come out fine.

Did they put you behind the rifle to get the scope in the right spot for you or did they do the job without you being behind the scope when they chose where to locate the scope?

+1 for Gunfighter Tactical. They are great.

John Harms in Escondido, Precision Arms is also great.

I agree. You really need to be present when mounting a scope.

I believe so. But no cheek riser at the time.
