I am hoping to get some clarity on the legality of shooting guns on BLM land during fire restrictions, specially Stage I in relation to the order and map linked at the bottom.
I am looking to confirm is target shooting is allowed on BLM land in Stage I restrictions? It looks like my area is currently in Stage I and Stage II restrictions. Stage II specifically calls out no shooting at all, but Stage I does not.
Stage I has restrictions to ammo types etc, but does not say it is illegal to target shoot like Stage II does. I am confused because I called the BLM law enforcement phone number and the woman who helped me told me all CA is National Forests and BLM is not allowing any target shooting anywhere.
Once I re-read through the map and order, it seems she may be wrong. It looks like that is the case in Stage II areas but not Stage I, is that correct? I called back again to verify and spoke to a different person who said I should be ok in Stage I but was not very confident. I figured if anyone is going to know it would be the experts here at CG..
