BCM MK2 Upper vs. Geissele Super Duty Upper

Just purchased my BCM MK2 14.5 Upper and wanted peoples opinion on my predicament.

My choices were the Geissele 14.5 Super Duty & BCM MK2 14.5 and decided to go w/ the BCM MK2 (since it's always out of stock and finally back instock, kind of an impulse buy). I know ppl usually say go w/ BCM since it's a couple hundred less than Geissele but after adding the BCM BCG, Surefire Warcomp p&w and the BCM charging handle it basically comes out to the same price and I think Geissele is the better value since they also include the Super 42 Braided spring and Buffer. The new MK2 Upper is mainly the reason of my purchase if it wasn't the MK2 I definitely would've went w/ Geissele.

I can't help but feel I should've went w/ Geissele Super Duty instead of the BCM MK2 so I might just sell the BCM and go w/ Geissele but maybe ppl can reassure me of my choice and save me the trouble lol

I have both in 14.5" and to be honest, I can't tell much difference other than weight. The Geissele is slightly heavier and has a SureFire Flash Hider. They're both very good uppers that were impulse purchases as well.

I only have one 14.5 BCM upper (forget which one) mounted on a Mega Arms lower. Fit 'n finish are great. Really light. Rifle shoots great. Zero complaints. Don't own anything Geissele so I can't help there. How much for the BCM if you decide to sell it? PM me if you do. Thx

Keep the BCM. You won't notice the difference except in weight. but my real advice is neither. Both are dated and the Geissele is heavy. The barrels aren't special and You're not operating so you don't need the Geissele rail. If you got the ELW BFH profile that's the best outcome of the two. Both tend to be over gassed.

Have your own upper built with a criterion or Triarc barrel and other parts of your choice. Heck, I'd take my upper in the FS section over both of those.

          I have a Mk8 Geissele railed ar15 and a 14.5 quad bcm mk2 upper,
The Geissele looks cooler to me.

If the Geissele is what you want and you can afford it, do it.

If I only had room in my safe for either a Geissele or BCM it would be Geissele.

As far as the braided recoil spring goes according to YouTuber “small arms solutions” that is not really an upgrade at all and doesn’t enhance reliability over a standard mil spec buffer spring.

Yea I could barely tell the difference in weight since I didn't go w/ the ELW BCM, I have the Geissele URGI and tried to compare the 2. Another reason I went w/ the BCM kind of felt it would've been redundant to have both the URGI and Super Duty. I guess the few youtubers that wasn't happy w/ their BCM got to my head lol

I've heard a lot of good things about Criterion and Triarc barrels. Might be a future build of mines!

After getting the Geissele URGI and just the company's product packaging and design. I easily became a Geissele fan boy lol I just appreciate a companies presentation when it comes to their product and BCM lacks that BIG TIME. I know it doesn't really have anything to do w/ the actual product but something that I take notice of.

Good to know about the buffer spring def thought it would play a role w/ the uppper combo.

Definitely about skills more than the tools but my skills aren't that great lol so would feel a little better knowing I have some type of edge but your 100% right about improving!

A $200 PSA upper in the hands of a person with training will outperform the fanciest Gucci A.R. 15 and hands of someone without training

I have both a 14.5 super duty, and URGI (original with DD barrel). The SD is my favorite—so much so that I’m really considering selling the Urgi.

Oh wow that says a lot about the super duty! I think that's the first time I heard that. Excited to get my hands on the super duty now!

I’d keep the bcm and get the sd. 2 is 1 and 1 is none.
