The one with the light says "look at me, I'm an easy target". Night vision is much more subtle.

Was it stuff that you were about to destroy? That's the primary problem with the weapon-mounted light. Otherwise, it's a flashlight like any other flashlight you might have on you.

I’d say need more info on what you two are debating?
Mounted light? Glock vs XD? Caliber debate? Leather vs Nylon?
Is your XD a full size or sub compact and what caliber? We know your buddy is carrying a 9mm.
More info is needed!

If it’s guns, then I can chime in. I’ve had both the service size XD9 and G19’s.
The G19 is my choice as it is a compact frame and much easier for me to conceal than the XD with a slightly longer grip.
Unless I wore a coat, I can get away with the longer grip of the XD.

Both are reliable to me and my experience/use, but I’d always take the G19 first.

A buddy of mine and I are comparing our setups for EDC and I need help settling the score-

My setup is a Springfield XD with tier1 tactical holster and a kore nylon belt with x5 buckle.

My buddy has a Glock 19 in a tier1 axis elite holster with TLR7. He wears a Crossbreed executive Leather belt.

I feel like we are a wash on the holster but the rest is the debate part.

If either or both of you had solid training this would not be a debate...



I would second many of the prior replies - a duel! Why don't you settle it in the shooting range? Scores speak for themselves.


Try it with the "old" Federal Air Marshals (FAM) qualification course, which seems a good standard for concealed carry (compared to our crappy CCW standards). It's only 30-rounds using the FBI-QIT-97 target. Hits in the inner bottle counts as 5; within the outer bottle as 2; and misses are 0. Maximum score of 150, with a passing of 135. The course needs to be shot "cold," ie., no warm up just like in a real-world scenario.

• Stage 1 - From a concealed holster, face a single target at 7 yards. At the start signal, draw and fire one round. Carefully holster and repeat for a total of two single-round strings. The combined time for both strings cannot exceed 3.3 seconds—an average of 1.65 seconds per string.
• Stage 2 - From a low ready, face the same single target and, at the start signal, deliver two rounds (as a controlled pair). Repeat this once (two pairs; a total of four rounds). The combined time for both strings cannot exceed 2.7 seconds—an average of 1.35 seconds per string.
• Stage 3 - From low ready, fire six rounds into the single target in one rapid and continuous string. This is done once, and the par time is 3 seconds for the six rounds fired.
• Stage 4 - With a fully loaded handgun, face a single target at 7 yards from low ready. Fire one round, reload, then fire one more. Repeat for two strings and four rounds total. The par time for the four rounds is 6.5 seconds—an average of 3.25 seconds per run.
• Stage 5 - From low ready, fire one round each at two targets spaced 3 yards apart. Repeat this once for a total of four rounds in two strings. The combined par time for both strings cannot exceed 3.3 seconds—an average of 1.65 seconds per string.
• Stage 6 - Three targets are placed 3 yards apart. The shooter starts from the holster under a concealment garment, facing up range with their back to the targets. At the start signal, turn, draw and place one round into each target. Repeat this for a total of six rounds. The shooter will be required to turn to their right for one string and to their left for the other. The total par time for both strings cannot exceed 7 seconds—an average of 3.5 seconds per string.
• Stage 7 - Load one round into the chamber, leaving the empty magazine in the gun. From a standing low ready, fire one round. The slide locks back. Drop to one knee, reload and fire one more round. Repeat for two, two-round strings. The total time cannot exceed 8 seconds—a 4-second average per string.

If neither of you passes - then, I guess, you need more training to even begin the debate...

I have heard of Glock Perfection and I own three. In 2016 I was going to get a 45 ACP and fortunately Colt still had the Commander on the roster. The Springfield just seem cheap in comparison. JMHO

XD magazine feed lips suck! They bend rather easily when dropped. Hickok commented about that known fact as well. Whadya expect from Croatia?
