that stowed in car requirement seems to be standard now. i'm sure there are many reasons for it but one of them probably has to do with preventing people from offering to buy these guns before they can be turned in

Good place to get rid of old or junk firearms not worth selling. I have got rid of a bunch over the years. I took a dozen sat night specials in from defunct pawn shop years ago, got 1200 dollars worth of cards. No one will sell a gun to some gibroni that shows up to buy before surrender here. Heard it happened in another state years go.
