    HUNT BOR?

A Sunnyvale public safety lieutenant was charged Thursday with drunken driving and refusing to take sobriety tests after he was pulled over for swerving in his pickup and California Highway Patrol officers found it loaded with a dead pig, guns, knives and a hatchet.

Lt. Douglas Michael Sims, 41, could face a six-month license suspension, six months in jail and $1,500 in fines if convicted of driving under the influence and refusing to submit to a drug test, Deputy District Attorney David Howe said Thursday.

CHP officers pulled over his pickup on Highway 85 in San Jose after midnight Sept. 22. Sims allegedly smelled of alcohol and his eyes were red and glassy, according to the CHP report. Sims refused to submit either to field sobriety tests or give blood, breath or urine samples.

In the pickup bed, officers spotted a dead boar and later found eight firearms, including a rifle and a shotgun, along with 10 knives, a hatchet and 11 boxes of ammunition. The registration for his pickup, bearing the license plate "HUNT BOR," was expired, officials said.

At the Sunnyvale agency, where employees perform both police and fire duties, spokesman Capt. Chuck Eaneff confirmed that Sims serves as a fire station supervisor and on the agency's SWAT team. He declined to comment further.

The guy probably had a beer or six after the Boar hunt, I like to knock a few back after hunting too, I just don't get behind the wheel.

Bad decision on his part to drink and drive.
