    Cancelled DROS by dealer

I just PPT a Glock 43 yesterday. I received a phone call today saying my DROS had been cancelled for two reasons and that we need to come back in to redo the paperwork and repay the ~$50 PPT. Did the DROS need to be cancelled for these reasons or could a form have been submitted with the corrections? My driver's license number was entered correctly. I'm currently speaking to Ammo Brothers on this forum to see if they'll allow the PPT fee to be waived for having to re DROS or am I out of line for requesting that?

    1) my name was misspelled. My name is Christian and they spelt it Christan. It was also my mistake on missing that when overlooking my form. I did not misspell my own name.

    2) For the HSC/FSC exemption section they put me down as exempt because of my C&R and COE which wasn't supposed to be done because this is a modern handgun.

Ammo Brothers has a post someplace here about how they want to give the best possible service to customers.

I'd say you are NOT whatsoever out of line.

Definitely the dealers fault. They entered and submitted incorrect information. It’s their permit, not yours. THEY need to ensure they entered your information correctly. That’s not right if they recharge you because of their own errors.

well its on them to make sure they type it in correctly but if they asked you to verify it then that's on you as well so maybe see if they would split the cost

Usually efficient gun stores have a second set of eyes look over things.
Yeah, their mistake their free DROS.

I believe they had second eyes on the papers to verify everything. The person who was handling the papers seemed new and there was another individual helping him out.

I was reading other threads on calguns that a simple misspelled name doesn't require a DROS to be cancelled and it should be fine as long as the drivers license number is entered correctly. I am not sure though about the HSC/FSC section being incorrect if the DROS needs to be cancelled.

                1) They should be swiping DLs not entering info by hand
                2) You should not have offered the 03+COE as a FSC exemption

Bummer all around, especially for the seller

I offered it as my second proof of residency so I'm not having to constantly bring updated utility bills. He tried to swipe the DL but it wasn't working so he had to manually enter it. I didn't think anything of it at the time.

According to MANY knowledgeable FFLs here on CG.

A FFL, using their DES system can make corrections to a DROS entry.

Note the bolded, keyword is "knowledgeable".

AMMO LIARS just make crap up. Then, at least from recent experience here on CG. Claim it is law, and they have to do it their "made up policy" way.

And REFUSE to even answer a few simple questions, in regard to their "MADE UP CRAP POLICY". Being in conflict with the laws they CLAIM they are following.

My own personal experience with their made up crap, goes back 7 yrs.

I'm guessing that you are now regretting not sticking with your own former policy, where they are concerned.

They're 10 min away from me but I'd rather drive the 30 min to riflegear or 20 to aeon tac in GG and even the Huntington beach gun stores. Hopefully they can clean up their staff for other current and future gun owners but for me I'm done with them and so are my friends. I'd rather go to a Turners than Ammo Brothers anymore.

Bummer, sounds like they screwed up.

Did they have you review the DROS on-screen before submission? That is usually their get out of jail free card if they screw up

On the screen no. They had us view the PPT form with my information and the sellers information if it was correct. I didn't notice the missing I on my name though. I didn't know it needs to be cancelled for that though

I also don't know if the name error or FSC exemption necessitated a cancellation, you might ask in the FFL subforum

I am regretting it. They said their customer service was improving so I gave them another shot hoping for the best. I spoke to Ethan (guy with worst customer service) on the phone and he said we cannot take the handgun to another dealer unless the handgun is DROS back to the seller first. I was under the impression that under
Penal Code 28050 the firearm can be given directly back the seller immediately with no DROS if done before 30 days.

It's not whatsoever on the customer...and that's whether he "verified" it or not. The shop is taking/making the money, and they blew it.
