    Washington STATE gun laws?????

Does anyone have any experience with Washington State gun laws??

I was going to be moving to TN, but that just did a 180 and now I might be moving to Seattle and know nothing yet about Washington laws?
If you know how many guns you have... you don't have enough guns.

People need to remember that the same guys who wrote the 1st Amendment, also wrote the 2nd Amendment... and for the same exact reasons.

Anywhere is better than here, except New York City, some New Jersey laws, Chicago, and D.C.

What little I have read is that they 'allow' silencers... it's just against the law to use them????? But if that's the most messed up gun law in WA I won't worry about moving my collection up there.

Mostly I was just worried if they had the same anal-fear of pistol grips that PRK has.

Most parts places will not ship ANY machine gun parts to Washington. Don't know exactly what the laws are, but this seems much more restrictive than CA.

WA does not have an AWB.
WA does not have magazine restrictions.

WA does not allow DD, MG, SBR & SBS.
WA does allow AOW and noise suppressors. But, noise suppressors are for display only, you can not legally use it (there is legislation to allow use, but it is being stalled).

Nobody from Free America would ship AK or STEN parts kits when I lived there, to be legal all of the fire control parts had to be removed before shipping and just like we find here in CA most out of state sellers just don't want to deal with a restricted state and wouldn't bother.

My room mate is from Washington, it certainly seems a whole lot better than California.

There's no goofy safe guns list, just no assault weapons. CCWs also eliminate the wait period on handguns. Getting your CCW is also significantly easier. Once you have your CCW you just walk into a shop and pick up your gun.

Make sure to check out Olympic Arms if you're up there. They make some beautiful guns, especially their 1911s.

                          Speaking as a Washingtonian Calgunner...

I can give these specific facts as to carry and gun laws:

Loaded OC is legal on foot, in any vehicle (including public transit) you must have a CPL to loaded OC. The Washington OC community is the #2 largest in the county behind Virginia. LEO's knowledge of OC legality is pretty clear up there.

Washington State has a 5 day waiting period on handgun purchases, which is exempted if you have a valid CPL. At that point they just run NICS. Same with all long gun transactions.

Machine guns, or at least, all machine guns which fire more than 5 rounds a second, is unlawful in Washington, and has been since the 1930's.

SBS/SBR's have been illegal to possess (though grandfathered if you resided in the state before 1994 with it legally registered federally).

School grounds are illegal to carry on OC or CC generally. You can leave your gun concealed from view in your vehicle while going into a school on lawful business. You can also have your gun on foot and school grounds, concealed or open, if you have a CPL only, if you are picking up or dropping off a student only. You may NOT go into a school building to do the pickup or dropoff. This was passed in 1993.

You may not carry in any place that disallows under 21's by the rules of the Washington State Liqour Control Board. Employees and owners are exempt from this.

You may not carry in a courthouse, however they are required to check it in for you (except federal courthouses). There is substantial noncompliance with this law in certain municipal and tertiary courthouses in the district courts.

You may not carry in a restricted areas of a jail facilities, or a law enforcement only access area.

CPL new costs $55.85. Lasts 5 years. Requires fingerprints. Requires you to be 21. Requires NO training.

Full state preemption. Seattle keeps playing a chicken game with SAF over banning guns using their power as "landlord".
