    M Pro 7 / Slip 2000 / CLP / Hoppes / Sweets: Which one?

Some of these stink to high heaven, some are odorless.

Which one do you guys like to cut thru carbon?

For just carbon cleaning, I've been using Rem Oil for many years. It cuts carbon fouling off really well.

I use it mostly for hand guns and shotguns for the slides, bolts and barrels.

Rifle bores get a more specific cleaner like wipe out, Butch's bore shine, Shooter's choice etc.

As far as CLPs go, Brakefree works for me for everything for decades. I tend to use Slip 2000 EWL now because it odorless and it burns off as a lube slower in things like AR's. I reciently have tried Clenzoil and its the best cleaner for a CLP, but chemical smell like Brakefree and too thin to use as a lube.

The correct answer is they will all work, you will never notice a difference, so it really does not matter.

For rifle barrels I need to clean copper out of, I'll use Wipeout foam.

M Pro 7 is my current go to because it doesn’t stink and is non-toxic.

Hoppes, as it smells great and does not harm non-nickel finishes or rust bores

Sweet's 7.62 stinks like ammonia, but it cleans copper. I'm trying Shooter's Lube cleaner. No odor.

12 years of using only Slip products. No smell, non-toxic, works better than anything else I've tried.

I grew up with Hoppe's. I use it regularly but every two to three years I'll hit the bore with Sweet's 7.62 to flush out the copper.

Hoppe's I use anywhere; Sweet's is some powerful stuff, so I'm in an open breezeway with breeze, eye protection, and rubber gloves.

                        MPro7 for cleaning.

CLP for rust protection and small part lube.

Wilson Combat Ultima Lube II for slides, bearing surfaces etc.

Also use a healthy dose of gun scrubber between initial cleaning and lubrication.

Why not a gun cleaner that smells nice, removes carbon and moisturizes while you wash the dishes and makes laundry come out clean/bright and smells mountain air fresh?

Sure they make it. They just didn't tell you guys about it.

Specifically for carbon fouling: Simple Green or if you want to spend more money, Slip 2000 Carbon Killer.
