Unfortunately, I have little faith that all parties involved would be honest and follow the law. The FBI clearly lied and altered "evidence" to get FISA warrants. I would expect similar behavior from an ATF that wants to crack down on straw purchases at all costs. One letter where a pre-perp Could not, versus Would not demonstrate that they still possessed all of the firearms in question would make a world of difference. Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect society and there is probably a lot of pressure to achieve results in cracking down on straw purchases. I'm sure over the years you found judges that were easier to work with on warrants than others. With some of Obama's and Biden's appointees, getting a warrant does not seem to be a big hurdle to clear.

This is also a good case for having a non-Ring doorbell camera that records to your personally owned NVR, as well as the ability to either stream or transfer video to an offsite location. I'm in the process of dumping Ring and Cloud recording devices to avoid any misunderstandings. Ring is not your friend...

See, that's the problem. You're applying logic to a government system that has been pillaged in its integrity at all levels. Been-there done-thats will try to assuage your "paranoia" by citing their extensive experience or the letter of the law... Oh, search warrants belong to detectives? Riverside County detectives were cheating on their promotional exams back in 2018/2019. No one was fired because of that to my knowledge. Oh, now non-detective deputies can participate in the search warrant process, too? How many of Rio Hondo's POST Academy cheaters became deputies thereafter? Occam's razor: federal agents acting shady with others' confidential information are, well.. you guessed it.
