See, that's the problem. You're applying logic to a government system that has been pillaged in its integrity at all levels. Been-there done-thats will try to assuage your "paranoia" by citing their extensive experience or the letter of the law... Oh, search warrants belong to detectives? Riverside County detectives were cheating on their promotional exams back in 2018/2019. No one was fired because of that to my knowledge. Oh, now non-detective deputies can participate in the search warrant process, too? How many of Rio Hondo's POST Academy cheaters became deputies thereafter? Occam's razor: federal agents acting shady with others' confidential information are, well.. you guessed it.
