If my family was in the house, I would go through the door if the police was not there already. Attention away from my family would be my main concern, thieves hate confrontation, so I would think that they would leave after they hear me outside and trying to get in.

When I FINALLY got the phone call, the first I asked was about my dogs, if they were okay.
