Need Help Appraising my German Walther PPK

    Hello Calguns,

I have quite a unique engraved Walther PPK/S.

I know these have been off the California Roster for some time now so I need some help appraising my firearm.

How much do you guys think this would fetch in todays market? This specific PPK/S was made in West Germany.

    Thanks,
    knucklez

Never seen one engraved like that. Looks pretty unique if factory done seems pretty collectible, this one sold for 6850.00

This is an extremely rare and desirable engraved Walther PPK from the early Nazi era. I would doubt there were more than a dozen of these ever made and this is the only one I have ever seen.

What's the story behind the gun?

Just keep in mind that story usually means little in terms of market value, with an exception for factory engraving.

What caliber is it? We also need better pics, do not attach your pics here. And lose the attempt to remove the background, it isn't helping.

That was a 7.65mm PPK not a PPK/S, and it was pre-war as was the engraving (which was not factory). It also has a case-hardened finish. That is why it went for bucks.

OP has a PPK/S likely in .380. It was also likely manufactured in France by Manhurin, in spite of it being stamped W. Germany. It is likely an Interarms import and probably engraved in the US.

There is a lot we could say if we had clear pictures and readable roll marks, but we don't - so we can't.

Well I will say this - someone went to town on that thing. They even did the chamber. It is very interesting and I would not call it a hack job either.

As to what it is worth - this will be a beauty is in the eye of the beholder sort of valuation. The only way to really know is to put it up for auction and let it rip. That sort of engraving does not come cheap though especially full coverage and with infill like that, so someone out there would probably pay some good bucks for it. The engraving alone is probably worth a few grand.

I would love to see more pics in natural light (no flash) preferably both some direct sunlight and diffused sunlight shots.

Sell it in a Gunslingers auction. It will for FMV or better.

There's has to be a Walther PPK/S. online forum.

Join it and post the pics.

I bet within 1 hour, you'll have a ton of answers.

                        Good Luck !

Just by chance... is it inscribed with the words 'El Chapo's el chapo' or something like "Butcher of Baghdad" on it?
