    Moving to new Hampshire

    Hello,

Some questions about moving my few guns across the country.

This may need to be relocated, I tried my best to know where to post.

I'm not familiar with their laws and rules.

I would like to know how can I transport the pieces and ammo all the way there. Or if it's better to sell them.

I'm not attached to anything in particular. I'm talking about a pistol a shotgun and a PCC, basic stuff.

    Anyone familiar with the area?

    Thanks

Do not enter New York State ever. Not even passing through.

You are allowed to transit every state, but "don't ask, don't tell" applies. You might be in the right, but it doesn't mean you couldn't get hassled. You can ship them to yourself, or send them to a FFL, drive them or get a mover. They all work. I've moved my collection across the country a half dozen times using all of the above.

NH is straightforward for CCW and there are enough good gun shops to satisfy your cravings. I consider NH near the top of my list for good places to live (but I don't mind the cold, either).

Drive them or use a trustworthy FFL to ship the items to yourself across the country. Though driving them would probably be cheaper. Don't leave them with a moving company as guns have been stolen that way, many, many times before. Don't leave the guns in your car overnight, even if you believe the area is safe. Find a motel, and bring them in to your room. If you are planning on flying and shipping everything, use the FFL option as they make shipping guns easy.

NH = you are good to go, there are essentially no state level gun laws there. And no permit needed to CCW. Grab some NFA items too while living there

For you the main problem is not NH, but basically all the states that surround NH. Vermont has mag laws, though they are loosely enforced AFAIK, and no one has ever been arrested over them (unless they are committing another crime as well).

DO NOT stop in NY state for anything other than gas, do not even stay overnight. As people have been nailed by the NYSAFE Act for just transporting guns though. Handguns there require a separate permit which you don't have, which people have been arrested for, if NY troopers believe you are diverting from your most direct route. Anything that could be remotely considered an AW needs to be dissembled, as NY is far more strict about AW laws than CA is, and NY will find anything to nail you on. Its probably self explanatory too, but stay out of NYC too as NYC has its own city level laws which are even more strict than the state.

MA is the same way as NY except they at least give the right of passage a small amount of respect too. Id avoid MA too, just pass through NY and Vermont during your move.

Can't you just ship the guns through UPS / USPS to your new home from CA? I think this be the most cost effective option, unless you are driving your stuff already.

Sell it here for a premium and buy new once you get the NH.

I used PackRat/Zippy shell to move my stuff to Montana.
                    I used two 7x15 containers(locked cage).

One of them had my safe wife guns in them and also a few crates of ammo.
Everything arrived safely and no questions asked.

Also I might point out, if you are not attached to anything, then you may want to save yourself the trouble. Sell your guns here, and rebuy better guns in NH. No handgun roster there, no AW laws, no registration list, no need to transport them cross country, etc.

The PCC and handgun would likely sell quickly on the marketplace section here. Shotguns go pretty quick too from my experience.

When I helped a buddy move I transported his guns in a rock band musical instrument case. We put everything in, locked down the latches and put a few locks on it. Then just rolled it in the enclosed trailer. We did the same for his reloading stuff except we used a metal case
