    Gunbroker.com and Guns.com

Are these good places to buy a firearm? Gunbroker.com seems to be the ebay of firearms. How trustworthy are they?

I would prefer to buy local, but these are often the only places I can find that have the particular firearm(s) I want (that isn't out of stock).

Just like eBay, your experience buying on Gunbroker depends entirely on who you are dealing with.

There are scammers on Gunbroker but they are easy to spot. Deal with a seller who has a lot of feedback and you will be fine.

But buying on Gunbroker also requires some knowledge of CA law on your part. You must know the roster if buying handguns and you must know CA legal configurations for handguns and long guns.

You also need a knowledgeable FFL in CA to help you with the transfer, and preferably one that will have a reasonable transfer fee (ideally under $100 per gun)

And you must make sure the seller you deal with will ship to CA and will use the CA DOJ CFLC system to get approval to ship (required if your seller is a FFL)

I've bought and sold many guns on Gunbroker without any hickups.

Before bidding on something on GunBroker work out the FFL you will have it shipped to. There is a cost associated with this.

I WAS really hesitant about Gun Broker but was pleasantly surprised with the process . Just make sure to find out if they discriminate against CA buyers .Some don't want anything to do with the cess pool of red tape crap that has built up like a constriced sewage pipe , meant to narrow and choke off ones constitutional flow of liberty and freedom .

I've used guns.com a couple of times, it's hassle free and I'd recommend it. Not sure about finding the best deals there, but they're another good online vendor to check for what you're looking for.

Actually I had one "bad" experience, but it was more bad luck than their fault. Last year (year before?) They had an attack on their website and it crashed the site. I had just placed an order about an hour before and my order ended up getting lost/deleted/shot into space. When the system came back up someone else had placed an order for the exact same gun and their order was left standing but mine was gone. It was weird, and caused by the cyberattack that screwed up their system, so not really their fault more just bad luck. They apologized and I wasn't charged so no loss in the end.

TLDR strange things can happen when buying online, but guns.com is a go-to for me when perusing online

I’ve bought both guns and ammo on GunBroker. One little hint - if you develop a relationship with one of the sellers you can typically cut better deals direct with them on subsequent transactions. I’ve done this with a few guys who sell bulk ammo.

Gunbroker doesn’t not have customer service at all. Make sure you buy stuff from someone with good feedback (both past and recent) if you are paying through money order or check.

What the others have said. I have bought half a dozen guns off of Gunbroker the past year and so far, it's been a very good experience. Buy from highly ranked, trusted buyers and use your instincts.

Unfortunately on GB now that you have to pay sales tax and a receiving fee at your FFL that is usually $70-$120, sometimes shipping and sometimes 3% credit card fee, I always shop my local gun stores first. Do all of the math and make sure you are getting a good deal from Gunbroker. I would generally rather support my LGS but when they don't have something or cannot get it, I go to Gunbroker and Gunbroker has tons of C&Rs that your local gun store may not.

I've never bought from GunsAmerica, Armslist, only Gunbroker to date.
