    DROS fee

How much are FFL's allowed to charge for a DROS currently? Just a straight over the counter purchase not a PPT or a dealer transfer. Are they allowed to charge more than the DROS fee specified by the PC?

$37.19 is the price for DROS if you are buying from the dealer. Some (like Turners) will add $5 or $6 as a separate line item when you buy a gun or guns from them

Right, but let's be clear: the fee to the state which we call "DROS" for convenience is that $37.19 - So long as the shop does not call it part of DROS - for example, a separate line item, as noted - then the dealer can charge anything it wants (except PPT, where the charge is a max of $10). Ask before committing.

          Some shops charge additional fees.

          Find out in advance.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

So if I understand correctly the shop can't charge anymore than the 37.19 for the DROS. The shop is basically charging you their own fee for buying a firearm from them. First time I had run into a place charging their own fee for buying a firearm from them, last week. I was trying to get them to explain to me what the extra $10 dollars was for, and was told the state says they can charge more money for the DROS. I pulled up the PC on my phone and was where are you getting that from? They could not explain so I just walked.

At least you fought back and walked. Some FFL can intentionally misinterpreted all the time! It’s money, in life people do whatever it takes to make a buck.

Remember to bring your own cable lock you have purchased in the past 30 days or they will make you purchase one. You need receipt for proof.

I usually buy one from Walmart or big 5 then return them.

Yes, I've seen stores charge $10 on top of dros fees.

It is somewhat of a new store in town, I just do not appreciate the dishonesty and being deceptive about what they are actually charging the money for.

If they charge more than the fee that is required by law, walk away.
