      Trigger job, better sights.

My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.

        PRP drop in trigger
Your favorite flavor of night sights.

Then practice, practice , practice .

For durability replace the roll pin in the slide. Everything else is subjective. Do as you please as there are good products on the market.

My original XD subcompact was upgraded with:

              - sights - subjective in that the Trigicon HD sights were easier for me to see

              - trigger - Powder River Precision since the factory trigger was terrible such that you could not even feel it reset

              - changed to an extended mag release (optional)

              - changed to a larger slide release (optional)

The question for you OP is which XD9 do you have? The original as sold in California? An XDM? Or ???

Powder River Precision has other triggers than what is shown on their website for the original XD:

Good luck with your decisions OP.

I agree. Grips and sights are all one really needs. Reliability is never affected like this.

                      XD - the working man's 1911.

It just felt right in my hand too and is also why I bought one.

I wanted to buy a Glock but it just did not "speak to me" or feel right when shooting several. Plus, I try to avoid "fan-boy" crowd following circumstances. Besides, we all know the true "people's pistol" is the HK VP9. LOL.

OK, given the above, I will now flame myself:

^^This right here. Zero mods to any pistol I own. Talon Grips. Ameriglo Hackathorn Night Sights. WML. TLR-1HL on the bigger pistols. TLR-7A on CCW pistols.

I have both. XD9 XDm.45 and G17/19/22. Every person I've ever taken to the range for their first time prefers the XD9. Wife and my oldest shoot the XD9 better than any other pistol. I think the ergos have a great deal to do with that.

XD9 was my first gun. I thought the same thing. It just feels good. I didn't get into Glocks until the pandemic started and the price/availability was there so I added a few more tools to my tool box.

                          That being said..I CCW a G19 or VP9.
But I shoot my G22 better than any gun I own.

Best upgrade that I did was to de-spur it. I took a file and fine sand paper to all of the sharp plastic edges, especially on the trigger safety and the bottom edge of the grip safety well. Anything that felt sharp recieved some attention. It is now very nice to shoot.

2nd, got some tritium night sights and a light.

                              Very happy with it.
