    New MagPul AK Magazines

Hope this is the right area,

I have some brand new MagPul 30 round AK magazines for my new Zastava. The same exact one that actually came with the AK.

I had loaded them up earlier and then decided to unload them and reload with a different ammo.

Out of the five I had two do something odd when getting toward the max capacity. The spring seemed to get stuck down so the ammo would just basically fall out if tilted mouth down.

The red button on the bottom fixed one and just unloaded and reloading the other one unstuck that one as well so they seem fine now but that had never happened to me out of all the MagPuls I own. Guess I need to keep an eye on the two that were hinky.

Never had that happen with MagPul AK mags, but any predominantly plastic mag can have rough spots or loose plastic that hangs up the springs. I’d take them apart clean out the mag body and inspect for plastic interference.

There is a guy on u tube that swears by spraying down in mag body with a Teflon spray. I’ve seen his vids where he’s done it to aftermarket Glock mags that are known for being stiff, hard to load and stuck springs. It was night and day difference, I’ve never done that I just clean them out and break them in the old fashioned way.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

I'll do that and the teflon spray sounds great too. Having never taken one apart I'll check out YouTube as well. EDIT: Looks easy enough I guess unload again and inspect, spray with teflon and should be good to go.

Sometimes any mag can have a booger that needs a wipe.

Number your mags? It's a good idea for tracking a bad actor.

These are all AK MOE ones. The all have a red button on the bottom as well. I guess the Gen 3 has metal feed lips instead of the polymer. I will get some of those as well, but the place I buy most of my weapons from had these on sale for 9.00 and I couldn't pass that up.

That's never happened with my magpul AK mags but it happened a lot with the g19 mags.

Ive had that with new mags where the inside are rough. The follower tilts and sticks. For plastic mags, inspection, removal of flashing, sanding down/polishing burrs and some Johnson paste wax works for me.

I like Magpul for AR15 .223 platform but for AK 7.62x39 I like circle10 and vintage milsurp

I am going to try something similar, read and article on competition shooters that use Lucas Slick Mist Speed Wax on the magazine internal body.

Apparently it works well and doesn't attract dust or grime. I didn't see any burrs on the one giving me the problem but will look with a magnifier tomorrow when I do all the internal waxing on all of them.

Check for flashing on the followers also.
