What qualifies as a "Locked Case"?

Ok I know hand guns need to be transported in a secure locked case, and its a good idea to transport rifles in them as well. But

What qualifies as a Secure Locked Case?

I know the trunk does, but I drive a pickup and don't have one. The glove box is a No NO.

Are soft cases with locks ok?
My range bag with the Gun in its own compartment with a pad lock?

Anything that requires either a code or a key.

As long as you cannot ACCESS the firearm while it is in the case w/o either a key, a combo, or breaking it open.

The trunk counts as a locked case. The glove compartment does not.. even if its locked.

Besides those two factors... most if not all ranges require you to bring it in a locked case anyhow.

The law doesn't define a hard case, just a locked case.
For what it's worth, I use locked soft cases all the time.

I think it needs to cover the whole gun also. I 've seen "gun life jackets" ads in the magazines that look pretty cool but would not be legal.
