    Private party transfer limit?

    Hey guys,

What's the limit of how many guns one can transfer within a specific period? Is it subject to the same 1 / 30 day limit as with normal/dealer purchases?

    Thanks!

Here is the PC on transfers.
12070. (a) No person shall sell, lease, or transfer firearms unless he or she has been issued a license pursuant to Section 12071. Any person violating this section is guilty of a misdemeanor.

    (b) Subdivision (a) does not include any of the following:
    (4) The infrequent sale, lease, or transfer of firearms.

(c)(1) As used in this section, "infrequent" means:
    (A) For pistols, revolvers, and other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person, less than six transactions per calendar year. For this purpose, "transaction" means a single sale, lease, or transfer of any number of pistols, revolvers, or other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person.
    (B) For firearms other than pistols, revolvers, or other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person, occasional and without regularity.

So basically 6 per year, regardless of how close they are together? And sale meaning if I'm buying or selling?

If selling handguns, its actually "less than six transactions", so that would be no more than 5 transactions per year. But you can sell multiple handguns to a person in a single transaction.

They leave it subject to interpretation on long guns. If they feel that you are selling with regularity or more than occasionally, they could consider it dealing without a license.

And yes, this deals with selling. There are no limits to the number of firearms that you can purchase via PPT except your wallet.

One more question: can I have more than one simultaneous PPT transfer in progress?

you can have as many PPT purchases in process at the same time as you can afford, as long as you are not doing in the City of Los Angeles. LA has its one 1-in-30-day handgun law and does not exempt PPTs, unlike the state law. There might be other locals, such as San Fran that have similiar laws, but I am not aware of any.

                    Fixed that for ya.

I know you know the difference, just a FYI as cities, especially Los Angeles (as much as they would love to) cannot make laws.

to the OP, just make damned sure that your FFL of choice checks the right category for PPT or it will screw up your '1 handgun every 30days' limit.

Other than that, concur, your wallet is the only limit.
