    Shooting Drills Recommendations?

Posting this here vs. the Competition, Action Shooting And Training section in hopes of getting more answers.

    --

Are there any free shooting drills (preferably found online through a .pdf format) you recommend? Looking for both handgun and carbine drills.

Long story short; I'm getting a bit bored of shooting steel and paper targets all day at the range. I've invested in a shot timer (Pact Club Timer III) and would like to run drills to hone in on my skills and conserve a bit of ammo while I'm at it.

I've found some good ones through a few YT'ers; T-Rex Arms, Average Joe's Goon Life, and T1 Concealed.

    Thanks in advance!

There's always the good old Bill drill at different distances and the El Presidente. "A" hits only at the fastest speed you can go. You do burn through A LOT of ammo in a very short amount of time.

Try dry fire as well, you'll be surprised at the results. Ben Stoeger (search Amazon) has some good books on that.

If you are ready to get into serious understanding of shooting, you will need two things: a good book to avoid training pitfalls, and dedicated time to practice.

Once you understand the principles of shooting and training, you will know that some skills must be learned in live fire, while most are learned and practiced in dry fire. Knowing which ones are done where and why, is the topic of the books you read. It's quite logical and obvious in a way once you understand it, but it took a lot of great shooters and the community as a whole quite some time to evolve and sort it all out. That's why books are important.

I'll second the advice about the books above - Ben Stoeger (over Steve Anderson) for understanding, Steve Anderson for a recipe, more than understanding, and Brian Enos for deep understanding of the mental process of becoming a great shooter.

You can also buy the book from Ben's ex-wife. She focuses more on movement since match skills is more about movement and less about shooting. https://180firearmstraining.com/

                  I'd assume...

...she may definitely focus on movement.
