    Sargent and Greenleaf

Hey fellas, is it possible to change the combo if the door is open. I found a safe with this lock. He says he has 2 out of 3 numbers.

    Thanks

I'm going to say depends on the model? I know the S&G I put on my safe to replace the electronic one requires the safe to be opened to change the combo as the change key goes in the backside.

Thank you for the reply. The door is open and he says he has 2 of the numbers. I'll call a lock Smith in the morning.

Come to think of it, assuming he knows the first two, you can see the pawls engage from the backside of mine I believe. So could more than likely find the third number.

If you have access to the back of the lock and a change key, then yes. Watch this video, starting at about 15:00. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mjmLG8tNfWQ&t=1220

Change keys are easy to find. Watch the video, do it yourself

Yes. It's quite easy. Take the back off the door and open the back of the lock. You will see the tumblers just manipulate the dial and watch how they align in the normal 4L. 3R, 2L sequence.

It's very easy look for the "relocker" pin and make sure it's not a issue. Check YouTube for examples.

In fact I helped a buddy do this exact thing a few days ago.

Hey guys, I decided to pass on this safe. I don't have the talent to make it right. I could probably make it work but I don't want to deal with it.

I thought I'd post it up incase somebody else might want to give it a go.

If its a typical S&G lock, youjust need the special key to plug in the back of the lock and reset the combo.
Or replace it, an entire new lock is like $120

If he still has it on the weekend I'll go take a look. He just told me that he operates the locking system with a large Allen head..

He seems like a good guy. I'm hoping a member will pick it up. He said he had a forklift so there's that..
