To oversimplify, 50 caliber rifles are now basically illegal to buy in CA. Get a 243 wssm ar15 upper with the necessary, cartridge specific mags - external ballistics are much better than 308 or 6.5 creedmoor and this from a small frame AR which can accurately reach out and touch something at 1000 yards if you get a good match grade barrel and if you precision load cartridges with high BC bullets.

Typical of most California gun owners, and they wouldn't know that.

Never around when needed, don't fight legislation, don't vote, won't sign real petitions, won't join the NRA or CRPA, only show up on Calguns asking questions at the first hint of a ban, but sure as hell a ban comes down the pike; they get in line at the gun show.

To oversimplify, 50 caliber rifles are now basically illegal to buy in CA.

And to clarify - shoulder-fired rifles chambered in .50BMG are illegal to buy.

However, you can still get them in .50DTC, as well as ARs chambered for .50-Beowulf, .50AE, or any other .50-caliber cartridge that is not .50BMG (which is not likely for a semi-auto AR other an AR-based bolt-action Upper chambered in .50BMG) are all good to go.
