i'm looking at my first out of town sale (socal to norcal) and have some pragmatic questions.
first off, i'll say that i'm only considering this cuz they're a long timer calgunner and has perfect itrader rating with whom i've messaged before about other stuff. seems like a legit buyer who would provide contact info without much issue. has also offered payment by check and would wait for it to clear so no concerns about paypal nonsense.

questions are the actual transaction itself, basic stuff
1) do i ship to their ffl or do i give to my own ffl to ship to their ffl? if the latter i assume there's fees involved
2) if i (not my ffl) ship directly to their ffl, what does ups require? insurance? ownership docs? etc..
3) how does ppt paperwork go if seller isn't present to thumbprint and sign?

I'd contact your local ffl before taking payment or shipping the firearm off. From what I recall you have to ship it through a licensed ffl i could be wrong? I'm sure someone will chime in soon that knows more

1 - up to you, to a point. No law requires you to use an FFL to ship to another FFL for sale, but the distant FFL may have that business requirement. Yes, there would be fees to the shipping FFL.

2 - the distant FFL will have its requirements, ask them

3 - if you ship, its not a PPT. Penal Code covering PPT requires exactly 1 CA FFL handle the transaction. If you ship, the distant FFL may charge any fee s/he wants for the transaction, and the Roster does apply.

What type of gun will determine the type of shipping needed. Long guns can be shipped using the USPS.

Handguns require using UPS or FedEx if you do the shopping. Dealers can ship handguns using USPS.
