Gunslingers has bought out what remains of "Lucky John's".

Including acquiring the location in City of Orange. At, 1740 W La Veta Ave,

They will be open for business ASAP under the "Gunslinger" name. But as of yet no solid date set.

There will be 2 Gunslinger's in the near future.

When I went to the store in Orange on La Veta location I heard that Aiden bought the shop from John. John was unable to renew the lease on the auction house location off of Katella and the Phoenix club location raised prices or something along those lines.

Still one of the best place to find C&R and antique firearms in Orange County I'd say.

I've gotten a few decent deals at Little John's auctions, but most of the time stuff I'm interested in gets bid up to stupid amounts. The times I've been in the store (only when picking up stuff I won at auction) what I saw in the racks were generally overpriced or rusty garbage.

I talked to the owner of Gunslinger Gun Shop and Auction today.

We are good friends and I worked for him as Auction manager for many years.

He confirmed that he will be buying The shop previously known as Little Johns in Orange.

It's going to take a bit of time to get it the shop in Orange up and running, with all the necessary licenses and such.

He's going to continue running the Auction out of Glendora for now, but it's all up for change in the future.

Maybe two different Auctions. Or some other hybrid Auction set up.

I bought a few guns from Little John's auctions. It was better a few years ago, in that the final prices were not as often ridiculous, especially with the buyer's premium added on. Their last few auctions amazed me with the prices they were getting. Universal M-1 carbines for $1200 or more, Mini-14s for $1800? Any shotgun looking tactical or like a riot gun were outrageous. I think the general panic buying and resultant shortages drove things batsheet.

I've done well selling on Gunslingers auctions. They reach a lot of buyers. I got several good deals on weird .32s in their store also.

I hate that they use the 'proxibid' platform though. The photos suck and the bidding system and refresh auction is terrible. Gunslingers also leaves a lot to be desired about their descriptions.

It's nice having the auction in Glendora given the proximity but recently I have just left frustrated. I used to do pretty well with older Smiths as people didn't seem interested and snagged a cool hi-power for ~$700 before fees but now even the less tactical looking stuff has shot up. Every time I leave I swear I'm going to bring some stuff to sell next time, the more tactical the better.

I'm always baffled by the pre-auction estimates. Where are those numbers coming from? Even in saner times they seemed to be consistently off, often times too low for older, nicer pieces.

When I was working doing estimates we based our numbers on past auction results.

Over the past year or so realized prices have risen 35% or more above older historical auction results.

I too have been amazed at the numbers.

Auctions have been utilizing online companies such as proxy bid for many years to compete with live attendees.

That has resulted in higher results for consignee's. Those folks are very happy.

I attended in person a well known gun auction here in prescott a few months ago. Went home empty handed, as the two rifles I was interested in each sold for well over what I was willing to pay.

It appears to me that some just don't care about price, and getting the item is more important.

I called having more money than sense.

Ever since the internet got involved, auctions have become great places to sell, but not great places to buy.

I bought lots of guns from gunslinger auctions back in the early 2000's. But I can't stand Jeff, and I'll never set foot in one of his stores or auctions ever again.
