    Building a Title 1 Other

    Dear Calgunners,

Are we allowed to build Title 1 other firearms from stripped receivers? Could find a definitive answer, so asking here. Is it only allowed to build one from a pistol lower?

Let me know if I posted this in the right section...

    Thanks

      That ship has sailed.

The cutoff to assemble a title1 other was August 31st 2020.
The cutoff to register it as an assault weapon was December 31st 2021.
Penal Code section 30900, as amended, required any person who, prior to September 1, 2020, lawfully possessed an assault weapon as defined by Penal Code section 30515 subdivision (a) paragraphs (9), (10), and (11), and was eligible to register an assault weapon as set forth in Penal Code section 30900, subdivision (c), to submit an application to the DOJ to register the firearm before January 1, 2022. The regulations for the Other Assault Weapon Registration are available on the Firearms Regulations/Rulemaking Activities webpage. Registration is now closed.

I just got my AW registration letter back a few weeks ago for the ones I registered last year.

        Post-2020...

A receiver that was DROS'd as a "long gun, other, receiver" can be legally utilized to make a CA legal firearm that is not a pistol, rifle, or shotgun.

The firearm will need to be made to comply with CA generally prohibited weapons (SBR, SBS, unconventional pistol, etc) laws and CA assault weapons laws.

What kind of firearm that is not a pistol, rifle, or shotgun do you want to make?
^Knowing this will be able to provide more detailed info on how to make it CA legal.
