Streamlight TLR-8G has a limited lifetime warranty. Good lights. I’ve had several streamlights and haven’t had any problems. Currently running TLR-8G on a few pistols. I’m also using the Streamlight Protac lights on ARs with rechargeable batteries.

Surefire is also lifetime. I’ve had some good stuff from them too. I did have some problems with early battery doors on the X200 flashlights way back.

I purchased 2 protac hlx-1000 lights on eBay that turned out to be fake. Contacted streamlight and they sent me 2 new ones from the factory free of charge.

*Stream light always puts the serial # on the bottom of the pressure pad. If you have one and you don't see it, it's not a legit streamlight
      Great info. Thank you.

And +1 for Streamlight. Run their TLR-8s on a few guns. They have performed well. I would never trust any $50 knock-off from Amazon to perform in a true active threat situation. But to each his own.

Olight has some nice pistol lights that have both an integrated rechargeable battery and a low level indicator.

On my rifles, I use Cloud Defensive Rein and OWL lights, also rechargeable. Mama Mia, those are some lights

Pro Tip: Make sure you can find a holster for your gun/light combo BEFORE you buy the light. Once you venture past Surefire and a couple Streamlights, holster selections starts getting sparse.

^^ In addition to this..there's a difference between real and fake as far as color of coil springs, the S / texture on the tail cap pad for hand-helds, o-ring color, etc.

Best way to avoid this problem is to only buy from reputable vendors...on-line or in-store.

Streamlights sit on every pistol I own. TLR-1HL for full-size..and TLR-7A for anything smaller including G19 for CCW. I have one Surefire light on a long gun but the other long guns all have Streamlights. The deal was there so I jumped on it..otherwise I would've passed. IMHO the price for the Surefire name doesn't justify the price difference to run Streamlight for less money. I can buy two TLR-1HLs for less than one Surefire X300. My .02

^^^And I echo this statement..find a holster that'll fit your gun/light combo before you buy your light. You might find your options very limited with one brand/light vs another.

CR123 have around a 10 year shelf life, some manufacturers consider the shelf life as in 10% loss in capacity in storage over that period of time.

Rechargable batteries lose about 20% capacity while in storage in ONE year.

Low battery indicator would require a circuit to detect the voltage which would use some amount of electricity.

off the top of my head, I have 4 different brands that are all excellent for their design intent and application..

these below all fit correctly with comfortable controls and weight balance with loaded mags..

big peeve of mine is lamp housings extending beyond the muzzle - no sir, don't like it

other than the compact xc1 taking aaa batteries, I like the performance and uniformity of the cr123 batteries in all the others.. and lithium batteries are much less likely to leak than alkalines

surefire xc1 - fits holster nicely (good point cabo)

                        TLR-8AG for me.
Great unit and not bad looking. I really don’t care for things hanging from a nice looking gun but at least tho doesn’t repulse me.
Switching works with my hand perfect.
