Gas was around 55 cents a gal and a pack of cigarettes were 50 cents. I stopped smoking 20 years ago but I'm still driving ....

If I recall it wasn't too long ago when gas was under 2 bucks...

    Good job Brandon
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I bought my first gallon of gas for 36 cents when I was 12 years old to fuel my lawnmower and I charged neighbors $2.00 to mow their lawns. At that same time, I was able to buy fifty rounds of .22LR for 50 cents, and I thought they were gouging me. Five years later, I got my first after-school part-time job and was earning $1.65 per hour. At that time a Ruger 10-22 was about $80.00. My first car was a 1969 Chevelle SS and that cost me a princely sum of $1300. Before I had my car, I also had to walk uphill to school in knee-high snow and then walk home uphill in 100-degree heat. I lived in Arizona.

I remember at 10 years old (1967) selling my real Samurai sword at the Mountain View gun show for 100.00. That was a chunk then considering that it went toward me buying a brand new Honda 50 mini-trail in San Rafael for 249.00 plus tax.

I remember walking into Turner’s, paying $700 something and walking out the door with a Colt CAR 15. Cash and carry

I remember way back when law abiding citizens of California could still own guns, to include AR15's and AK47's and I also remember when criminals went to prison for committing crimes instead of being given millions of dollars

When I was in HS gas got down to $0.25 a gallon and when I was in college I could get premium for my boat for under $0.31 and a case of beer was about $6. As it worked out the beer and fuel were about the same cost because the boat would burn 20 gallons per water ski trip (450HP 454 Chev crate motor that cost $600.) That was when Regan was the the Governor. That boat had a big effect on my life. Met my wife on one of those water ski trips.
