    Big Reno Show

I was thinking about going to the Big Reno Show this year. I went to a Reno show about two years ago and I was surprised at all the goodies they had as I had only gone to CA gun shows prior to that.

I read this, and I had second thoughts about supporting the show. Can anyone substantiate what this guy is talking about?

Is it even legal for ATF to do something like that?

I've only been to one Reno show - last year, and it seemed fine. As long as you know and obey the laws, you'll be fine. You can't buy modern firearms and carry them back to CA, but if you have a C&R license, you can buy C&R firearms and carry them back (so the final warning in the link is BS).

The stuff in the link sounds like some wingnut spewing crap.

The guy that wrote that rant is Kurt Wilson, who ran into a little trouble in Reno:

IIRC, this guy got himself into a little cash and carry deal outside the show involving (in his story) an M3 SMG, that he was buying no questions asked with the proviso that he would "run the serial number" to see if it was a C & R...he was a C. & R. licensee...what he ended up with when the dirty old ATF agent pulled the switcheroo was a full-auto M10 w/ a can, unregistered, of course.

His beef is that he was entrapped, the show promoter "allows" ATF undercovers to work the show (big news, they were there 30 years ago, too)

Steer clear of cash and carry NFA, you've got nothing to worry about.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

Don't go to support the show...go to support your habit. I've been to the last two (Nov. and Apr.). April was crowded. I suggest getting there before the doors open on Friday if you can...there was a line to get in, but not for tickets. I just got a ticket, then got in the long line...when doors opened I was in there room in a matter of a few minutes. Later, the ticket line grew, VERY long and transactions take longer than simply entering a door. The first hour or 2 was good cruising, then it was 10 acres of elbow to elbow. People were in long lines for ammo, but others were just filtering into the counter from the other side like a busy bar...those in line got hosed. Tons of cool stuff there: Old, new, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Cowboy, Military...knives, guns, ammo, mags, accessories...you get the picture. It's a total scene, but if you want to score some ammo, a mag, laser, light, stock or a complete upper...and look at a buttload of cool guns...then just do it.

Obviously the stuff the Original OP posted is crap.... You are always running the risk of an undercover ATF agent at any gun show, so If your not doing something wrong/stupid/illegal - even if you dont think it should be, you are running the risk of................
