What would be your next firearm purchase?

    Howdy Calguns

Between my father and I (we don't own many firearms), but we have:

    Ruger PC Carbine 9MM (mine)
    Marlin 795 (mine)
Ruger Single Ten (Under his name)
Ruger Mark 3 (Under his name)
S&W 9mm Sigma, glock wanabe (Under his name)

If you were me, what would be your next firearm purchase? My main deciding factors if I am buying a new gun might be influened by mainly self defense capacity and survival preparedness capacity. Maybe a 12Gauge or maybe a 12 gauge single shot with adapters to shoot other calibers? Maybe a 223 Ruger Mini 14? What say you?

Edit: Also, if you want to share your next firearm purchase, unrelated to the above, please feel free to share

This isn't the correct place but since you asked. We are currently waiting for a ruling from SCOTUS on nyspra v bruin. It was heard last session and they have yet to give a decision but most of the other cases from the same session have had them. Reading tea leaves it looks likely Thomas will write the opinion based on with load is usually split and he has yet to write one.

Some on both sides of the debate think we will see SCOTUS supply a new test of standard for deciding 2a cases. Given Thomas's talks on the subject "relegated to a second class right" that seems possible. Finally we have seen many 2a cases stalled essentially waiting for this ruling, again an indicator we might see something more than just a narrow carry opinion.

So what does this mean. We might see the ninths two step or interest balancing scrutiny test completely thrown out. Which would basically mean we win all our court cases on roster , AW bans, magazine limits, etc. The question would be could we have an extended "freedom week" like period where California would be just like any other free state until they found some new way to write the laws.

Which would be analyzed based on "text, history, and tradition". We have seen some of the anti groups trying to gas light ideas like we have a history and tradition of gun control from within common law. It's a stretch finding this small town or that had some gun restrictions so it's a tradition. They usually avoid the "text" because between heller and caetano all attempts do at the text instant a personal right for modern arms are done.

Even if we got a good ruling but it just kicked out cases along in a good light I would be waiting to see what the second hand off roster market does. We could see those prices come down to best MSRP which would be a game changer for my shopping list.

I have no idea what you should buy. I don't even know what I should buy lol.

I'm toying with the idea of buying another G19 so that I don't have to unload my edc everyday for dryfire practice. This would give me a backup in case I send mine in for any work. Currently I rely on my deep concealment option as my backup (Shield).

But the idea seems as silly as it is practical so my next firearm is likely a longer range option. I'm eying something in .338 Lapua but haven't decided on which one yet.
Maybe have my gal fitted for her own shotgun.

As to what Civil Engineer said... I'd probably jump on an AR pistol if given the opportunity. I'm aware of the current options, I just don't want to pay crazy off roster pricing or own a single shot variation.

I'm not a collector. I only own tools for foreseeable needs and my tool set is just about complete.

You need a center-fire rifle, either a surplus, newer bolt action/lever gun
Or a semi , why not go for a s&w sport 2 ,cheaper than a mini, 5.56 might be cheaply sold afterwards when military changes their caliber, police won't be buying, holding up production, they'll get free surplus ammunition and demand will be less and help the civilian market back to cheaper prices, hopefully like 4.99( dreams) for 20.

              Norinco SKS 762x39
              Marlin 336 30/30
              Howa 308/3006
              S&w sport 2

              Glock 17
              Ruger gp100 357 magnum

Wait on shotgun, Mossberg 88/ 500

Since you already have Rugger PCC, I would get Glock 19. It will serve you well as HD gun and you can share magazines and ammo with PCC

Being in a free state I have to put my money in ice so that if I want something I have to wait until it thaws so I have time to decide do I really need it. Too many things on my list.

I agree that that Glock 17 or 19 would be a fine companion for your Ruger PCC.

i have fired G19's belonging to friends and like them. I have a G17 and prefer it over the 19 for the longer sight radius. It's larger size also tames recoil a bit. Do change out the sights for a fiber optic, though.

You need a centerfire rifle of sufficient caliber to hunt big game out to longer distances. (270 Win through 300 magnum in a quality bolt action.)

I don't know if I'll ever buy another gun, unless something really unique happens to fall into my lap. Something like an original Ackley left handed Mauser or a nice left handed double rifle would probably be some of the few firearms that I would buy right now.

But unlike a lot of you guys, I'm old and have a lot of crap.
