so cal shop with lots of consignment guns ?

I am looking for a shop that has a large amount of consignment guns. I am looking for Smith and Wesson revolvers that are no longer on the "list". Can anyone think of a shop that has a good selection. I would prefer the greater LA area if possible.

    Thanks

The Firing Line in huntington beach has a bulletin board with pics of guns for sale by private party owners. At least 40 guns listed on the board.

your best bet is to just start hitting as many gun shops as possible these guns go quick i try to hit local gun shops once a week ask them if they have any thing new in the back you can get dibs on it before it hits the shelf thats the problem regulars or employees grab these hard to find guns up quick some shops will take your name and give you a call if something comes in that you are looking for

Do you mean an actual bulletin board within the store, or an on-line bulletin board?

LA Guns used to be great for consignment guns, especially because of their being adjacent to Beverly Hills. You would often find some exceptional pieces, from rarer modern finds like SIG P210s, Colt Pythons, early S&W 27s/29s, German post-war Walthers, to H&K P series guns, (and many more) on a regular basis. They always had a base of true high-end collector items from Lugers, Registered .357s to First Gen. Colt SAAs, and so many other specialty items, but they have even given up on those.

When they announced in October that they would discontinue all consignment guns as of 11/1/06, I was very disappointed. While I have exceptional C&R items, many of museum quality, notable heritage, and significant provenance, I still have an affection for garnering some of the odd or esoteric studies in engineering from all manufacturers that arose during the late 1970s through the late 1990's that will never appear for submission to the CA SB15 list, either because the model of interest is no longer made (Colt Python) or the company is just too small or low production to submit (like Korth) or the company is up and running, but very small AND it is unlikely their gun would pass due to its inherent design (Wildey).

The future of collecting in CA will soon be relegated to C&R only - that's fun too, but I miss the days of selecting from notable top-end guns that are 50 years and newer, but not on the list. And forget about availability of any future specialty runs or limited editions - we'll just never see them.

Turner's now lists all of their consignment and used guns online.

A real cork and aluminum bulletin board. You can ask for an index card, write your WTS or WTB ad, have an RO initial and date it, and put it on the board.

If it's a real good deal, it may never make it to the board. I have personal knowledge of two guns that were bought by an RO there when he looked at what he was initialling.

To save you some time... the Signal Hill Turners... is probably the largest turners in firearms. They probably have a larger consignment list.

LAX range has a list of pistols for sell on the door next to their front desk. I believe they are "bulletin" lists and are private party sales.

                  Turners Signal Hill is good.
Any Turners may have an interesting consignment piece.
Bolsa Gunsmithing in Fountian Valley, Mike's Gunsmithing in Long Beach,
Martin B. Retting in Culver City, even Ade's in Orange has some consignment handguns.
None of these places is that great, but if you check from time to time, you will come across some nice Smith & Wessons and other good guns.

FYI - Rettings does not do any consignment handguns unless it is C&R or fits the single-action/single-shot exemptions. Years ago they did, but they discontinued all consignment handguns when SB15 went into affect. They now only buy out-right, and sell those SB15 banned handguns out of state ONLY.

Brookhurst Pawn has a ton of guns but they are all in a safe. He said he is on gunbroker and you can check them online before you go to the "store". Not a place to bring the wife and kids
