First issue you are having is that you’re looking for an AR10. Ar10 only fit AR10’s, DPMS style is an LR308. You’ve got to be correct in the nomenclature on this platform, so you end up with a upper that fits

Secondly, 95% of all the uppers out there for the large frame AR in 308 are DPMS LR308 uppers, many companies are just using Ar10 as a description that is wrong and misleading. You’re better off asking what uppers are for an AR10 as it will be only a few, versus hundreds of LR308 uppers

You want to find an upper that is rounded at the back, and you will be fine.

When round the answer is always aero m5 upper receiver. They are affordable QC is good and finish is nice.

My question is who is using a upper outside of APF uppers without any modifications. So people tried Palmetto and there’s a gap.
I haven’t heard anyone using a Aero Precision Upper with a APF LR308
Hopefully someone on here has and everything lined up

The AR308 platforms are not standardized and each manufacturer is proprietary.

If you want 100% compatibility, then you need to utilize the same manufacturer for all the parts and/or utilize what the manufacturer recommends or acknowledges as compatible with their parts.

A gap is fine between the 2 receiver's, as long as it's not excessive.

How much gap are you talking about?

Even within the same manufacturer there may be tolerance issues, from when they mount the forging in the mill to machine it.

You're not going to find a perfect fit unless you are buying a matched set.
I have a 2A matched set, that is so tight it's hard to separate the upper from the lower. It still has a tiny gap at the bottom. It looks to me like it's done that way on purpose, so that the tiniest bit of dust doesn't keep it from closing.

Maybe you've got a LGS that will let you pin some uppers on to check out?

Have you contacted APF and asked them what patterns are compatible?

IMO find the parts that will work and build it.

You opened up another can of worms with a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Make sure you use an adjustable gas block so you can fine tune the upper to cycle correctly.

I ended up getting a complete upper from Aero Precision 6.5 Creedmoor
