    Shop never open?

It seems I've across this more frequently these days more gun shops not open during posted hours and it is really fu%$ing irritating when the due date on my pistol is up. Two weeks ago I drove all the way from Van Nuys in bumper to bumper traffic to do final paper work I arrived at 5:15 pm and they were closed the sign said they closed at 6:00 pm I get there today sign says "Be back tomorrow." What the F%@k!!! I don't believe I will ever do business there again if this what I can expect. Any one else have this issue?

I don't think I will go there neither! Where ever that place is at?

This is a major pet peeve of mine. And is not limited to gun stores. I hate when a shop is closing up because the young kids on the closing shift want to get out early.

I can appreciate a small shop were the owner wants to leave early or run an errand, but don't post business hours if you're going to do that. Make your business a "by appointment only" business.

To the OP, I wouldn't even think of making the drive again without a phone call to confirm they will be there. Good luck!

Wow, I guess I've been lucky so far as it hasn't happened to me. It did so at a shooting range once, but it was posted at the door that there was a emergency and that they would be open the next day.

How about just the general notion that the shops are almost all 10-6 type operations except for a few that are open later?

I would of called first. They might of closed early if there weren't any customers.

My niece runs a clothing store in the San Jose area, and the mall dictates what time they can close. Closing early violates the lease agreements. If the gun shop is in a mall, it might be the same there too...

That's what happens when one does biz with the small time operator.

                    Emphasis on the "small time".

This is fairly common. Some shops are so bad I have sometimes gotten in the habit of calling first even during normal business hours.

I agree. When you post business hours for yourself, if you have any decency, than you have given yourself an obligation to be open during those times. Obviously emergencies are different, but I don't get the impression that such is the case with the OP.
