      I have used a product called, “Sunny Bright II.” I put a little on the cylinder, let it sit for a few minutes, and then little brush with a wire brush. I too have concerns of damaging the finish. I have seen no signs of any damage yet. While it works well, I am always careful brushing the surface.

        I use hoppes 9 and the scrubbing end of a dish sponge.

          Try a rubber/eraser, and a lot of elbow work.

            This took 3 minutes with the Birchwood Casey Lead Remover and Polishing cloth. Very little rubbing and pressure required, the fouling came off almost as if it was wet. Now to get out the very minor blems and make it shine with some Flitz on a polishing wheel.

            An amazing product that I never knew about. Thanks fellas.

              Now I feel bad about my dirty 686 Plus. But thank you for sharing.

                When lead builds up in the forcing cone, you will love them a second time

                  You girls are looking at the wrong end of the gun, load it with ammo, point it down range, look at the front sight, pull the trigger.

                  Don't be a wussy and thumb the hammer back first.

                    a chore boy copper pad will get you 90-95% of the way there with hardly any work & it is by far the best way to remove lead from the barrel... and the best part is the price $3.99 at your local Ace or you may find one while grocery shopping too

                          Only on stainless ----> CLR

                          It's by far the best at taking out carbon from the bore, cylinders, muzzle brakes etc. Just do not use it on blued steel, cerakoat, stock bedding.
