Buffer Tube Question... Milspec or Commercial is there a difference?

Guys, I am building my first AR, and I guess I have a pretty dumb question. I couldn't find the answer doing a search.

My lower is a LAR Grizzly. I was told I needed a "Millspec" Buffer Tube rather than a "Commercial" one. Is there a difference? Will they both work?

    Thanks in advance!

    Yes there is a difference.

    Read this http://www.magpul.com/tech/ctr.html

There's a helpful card (second PDF on the list). Read that. Enjoy.

Both buffer tubes will fit in the receiver. The difference is the diameter of the tube. A commercial tube is 1.168" and the milspec is 1.148" The commercial tube is larger, and will only fit a commercial stock.

Now one more question.... where do I get one? Everything I see is Commercial.... I'm looking for the whole kit. Stock, buffer tube Milspec (of course) spring etc..

        Thanks again...

Is that a 6/5 position at bravo company?

You should call and verify as they have some with 5 position (looks to be out of stock) and some with 6.

So, just for clarity, a Commercial buffer tube WILL fit in my LAR Grizzly lower?

I would like to put the Tapco Intrafuse on it...

                  Thanks...

Yes. The lower has nothing to do with buffer tube sizing.

All you need to match up is the buffer tube and buttstock. If you buy it as a kit, you're a CEO's parachute.
