I guess she will end up a victim then. Unless she has a guy who can protect her or better yet, stop making excuses that an AR-5 or a PC carbine are too heavy.

Shotgun. More margin for error considering her eye situation.

Is she old? If not old she can get stronger, and there’s no way a 9mm Glock is more complicated than a semi auto 22. Hell the magazine is more PITA to load than the 9mm is. Plus the GP 100 isn’t really light.

Maybe she has a mental block? I don’t think there’s any on the ca list but she could track down a 22 mag semi auto.

Also as to cross dominant, my daughter is cross dominant and prefers shooting left handed. She’s not done a lot of pistol but has shot a lot of shotgun and switching from right handed to left made a huge improvement. Everyone says “just use your dominant hand w both eyes open”, or just hold it slightly to the left side. She flat out just is more comfortable using the left hand. It’s easier to train the hand than the eye.

Or teach her to haul ammo and load mags and she can keep you shooting in SHTF

I am more afraid of a 10/22 than someone with a 44 mag 2" snubbie

that 10/22 will hit me a lot
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
              (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

More people killed with .22 caliber weapons than any other, IIRC.

Tiny little bullets tend to zip around in a chest cavity / abdomen tearing up little critical things like blood vessels.

10 rounds of any high velocity .22 are serious if it allows the female shooter to avoid high recoil, be reasonably accurate, and puncture the bad guy's torso 10 times.

Let 'em get close, point and shoot as fast as that little gun will let 'ya.

                YMMV

How is a pistol caliber AR too heavy? You can easily build one that is in the 6 lb range.

loud guns are not fun without hearing protection

a su16 is very light but it is very loud

Look--she has to practice. The issues you mentioned are due to lack of training and follow-up practice. If she refuses training, then maybe the GP100 and S&W 15-22 are the best gear for her.

Yes, they die hours to days later on average. This doesn't solve the problem in front of the citizen engaging in lawful self-defense, which is to stop the threat as close to instantly as possible.

This sort of thing was well known to the fencing masters of the Medieval and Renaissance worlds. They trained to get in, inflict a lethal wound, and get out safely. It's not a new problem, but it's one we tend to forget. It does you no good to die because you got killed by a still fighting dead man.

Send her to the gym and some training. This myth that mid age females are weak is purely from lack of effort. My wife doesn’t even work out much and she can slam around an AR and help move furniture all day long. Most chicks just quit the second something isn’t easy. If she can’t lift an AR she ain’t going to be any good in a self defense situation because she’s mentally weak. It’s not a physical problem.

10 year olds use AK’s in third world countries in battle.

For a small framed female, even my 8lb AR15 can legitimately be heavy. Besides that, it’s all mindset. I have trained for 30 years. I have multiple black belts. The one thing I have learned is you have to accept what you have to work with. Some people, no matter what, are not going to be bad *** killers.

I am trying to pick the best of two sub optimal choices at this point in time.
