You make a really good point. Just wondering if there was anyone good local. But I hear you.

I looked all around norcal as well before I just shipped mine out to have it milled. I ended up shipping it to a shop in AZ called we plead the 2nd. I have a close friend in AZ that had used them many times and they did great work. Took like 6 weeks though.

I don't understand why people ask for local shops either, as if that makes a difference.

I use a company in MI for framework and a shop in ID for slidework. I shipped my AK to a shop in TN. Only local gunsmith I frequent is Randall (AR15) and that's because I'm able to wait while he does the work and he knows what he's doing.

When I first got into guns, I utilized a local shop with decent reputation and paid about 2-3x what I now pay out of state businesses.

Unless it's something that can be done while you wait, or you want to support local companies, there's no benefit to proximity.

              Slide

It's sounds like the OP wants his slide milled to fit a red dot

I think one needs to create the code for a cnc to mill the foot print for a specific sight and to know the depth of cut to melt the sight into the slide without damaging internal channels and without damaging the integrity of the slide.

Then a refinish of either the entire slide or the raw metal

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
