Thinking about getting rid of my registered bb AR

Hey guys I have a question. Can I strip down my registered bb AR rifle and just turn in the striped lower to law enforcement or maybe sell the striped lower to a dealer with a AW license? I just want to keep everything except the lower.

No CA AW dealer will buy the lower unless it is something Uber rare and valuable.

You can strip it and turn it in, or send it to an out of state FFL for consignment or maybe they will purchase it from you.

If it were me, I would hang on to the lower for a while - you never know what may play out in court (like removing BB becomes OK on BB-RAW)

Thank you SkyHawk for your reply. I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it or get rid of it. At least I now know I can keep my parts.

Strip it for the parts but stash the lower away. It won't take a ton of space that way and it's better to have IMO.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I thought one could de-register a BB lower by removing the "offensive" features.

There is a de-registration process, Removing parts does not accomplish this. It takes quite a while I believe, but can be done.

de-registering if possible would be better, FCA and FJB!

I have yet to read about a successful de-registration but then again, that doesn't mean it hasn't happened

                      This is what I'd do.

An Anderson lower is still about $50 around here. You can even get a fully parts-kitted lower for around $100. I'd choose whatever is easiest of those two options and keep on rockin' in the free world.

You know, you might just want to leave the BB on the lower when you strip everything else off. I am no CA gun laws expert but i seem to recall the registration indicated you could not remove the BB.

Strip it - leave the BB in you won't use it again anyway. Use a cable lock and attach it to a waterpipe in the garage. That way when they come for your registered AWs you won't have to let them in the house or open your safe. I'd keep it. If SHTF you can always put it back together.
If you destroy it look at the ATF site for the proper method.
