If you plan to train your wife by having her shoot a defective firearm you shouldn't be training anyone. Dummy rounds are used in real training, not a broken gun.

Find a cheap aftermarket magazine or take a good, reliable one and pound it like Big Pimping would with one of his "ladies."

The problem with snap caps is people learn to clear only non firing ammo. There are many types including ftf, fte, clean squib, squib jam and dirt and grime. Better train to transition into backup ankle gun or knife too.

                Good advice here...

You can use dummy rounds for type 1 & type 2 malfunctions. They now make special dummy rounds for type 3 malfunctions as well.

Or as I unintentionally learned, a .380 round loaded in a 9mm may fire but may not create enough force to run the slide and eject the round.

It is safer to use dummy ammunition mixed into magazines containing the correct ammunition than it is to intentionally use incorrect ammunition in your firearms.

i have a s&w mp22 that is like the sig p22's that loves to jam if you don't clean it after 100 rounds.

i don't clean it and use it as my malfunction drill pistol until it gets to the point where it will jam after every shot. then i will clean it.

the jams aren't dangerous as it is always a FTE. so it is great practice.

You'd be miles ahead just spending money on training. If you want to try the bad ammo, maybe you can get wadcutters in 9mm and see if they convert your pistol into a jamomatic.
