I never had a Les Baer but I want one, they're super nice IMO but they sure are up there in price with Colts.

Monolith has been on my dream list for some years! I a full rail dust cover custom 1911 that rivals my Atlas as far as recoil. The heavy front ends make shooting a dull cartridge like shooting 22lr

        Fixed that for you.

Les Baers' 1911s are worth every penny, unlike most Colts.

Garand Thumb has a pretty good vid of what the .22lr does inside the human head.

Thing bounces around the skull like crazy. Almost seems worse than taking a .45acp to the dome with full penetration in a weird way.

Extra weight on a 1911s is a bad idea.

This concept gets recycle every 6 or 7 years.

I do not see experienced shooting competitors hanging onto the concept of weighted
1911s for too many consecutive shooting seasons.

Most pistol competitions put a weight limit on Single Stack or CDP (USPSA and IDPA divisions using 1911s) division. There's also limits on dust cover length in USPSA.

Les Baers are something special. I think that heavyweight is REALLY handsome. The Monolith to me just doesn't seem right. Same with the Springfield Armory TRP Full Rail.

LB 1911 is on my wish list, some day...I'd be happy with a Premiere II

I've managed a LB HW Mono in my life. It's the last gun I'd let go. At first I didn't notice what was so special about the HW the OP mentions, but I get it.

Honestly, it seems like a typical LB product strategy. A variation on a theme with minimal design and manufacturing challenges. I'm not saying it would be any worse or better than any other LB. It's just doesn't grab me like the HW Mono.

From a perspective of a collector, everyone has their own personal choices. Some people like the looks crossing into what the Wide bodied 2011 is into a single stack. Other traditionalist people would say it deviates from the original lines of a 1911 and they don’t like it.

Les Baer puts out great guns and if the price is fair anf you like it, go for it.
