I'm 62 so I had plenty of time and money to buy all of those guns. I wish that I would have bought a few AKs, SKS and the Mosins along with crates of ammo.

    I purchased 4 guns from 1977 to 2012.

Like a lot of us, I should have bought a much bigger safe.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I'm in my early 50's in the same boat, only bought a few guns in the 90's. Didn't buy much till the mid 2000's. Missed out on a lot of good stuff when it was cheaper.

Telling the Wife instead of just quietly putting the gun in the safe for "annual cleaning" on another day.

My wife called me one day to proudly proclaim that she bought a gun. I asked what it was, and she told me it was a Raven 25. I was trying not to let her sense my disappointment. I asked how much. $50. Okay, not the worst thing that has ever happened.
We did have a discussion about Saturday Night Specials. I did manage to sell it for $150, and she put that towards an LC9.

I guess my biggest oops is letting my sons join me when field-stripping/oiling the guns:
When cleaning the Glock 19 Gen5:
--> Dad, this is not the Beretta 92FS. Did you get a new gun?
When cleaning the Kimber Raptor II .45 ACP:
--> Dad, this is not the Glock or the Beretta. Did you get a new gun?
When cleaning the H&K USP 45:
--> Dad, this is not the Glock or the Beretta or the Kimber. Did you get a new gun?
When cleaning the CZ 75 SP-01:
--> Dad, this is not the Glock or the Beretta or the Kimber or the H&K. Did you get a new gun?
When cleaning the Colt 1911 Gov't Model:
--> Dad, this is not the Glock or the Beretta or the Kimber or the H&K or the CZ. Did you get a new gun?
When cleaning the Springfield Armory TRP SS:
--> Dad, this is not the Glock or the Beretta or the Kimber or the H&K or the CZ or the Colt. Did you get a new gun?

At least they know not to tell their mom. My wife still thinks I only have one shotgun for home defense.

I was 19 years old and bought a Santa Fe Arms 1903 Springfield rifle at the Great Western Gun Show in Pomona Ca.

I was so pleased with myself that I got this awesome looking Springfield rifle.

This was long before the internet so after doing some studying and buying a book about Springfield rifles I found out that I had bought a turd..

That's when I learned to educate myself before any purchase.

I started buying books and learning.

I don't remember what happened to that rifle, but I'm sure I sold it at another gun show.
                    Poke'm with a stick!

I bought a NAA in .22 mag, thought I was getting .22 lr. Didn't even know about .22 mag back then.

A good oops if price was similar. .22 WMR ammo was always available

Every time I am at the gun store and pick up a KS7 or a KSG and begin to like it, your words echo in the back of my head. Too many people I know have bought Keltecs and then have quickly gotten rid of them. When I ask them why, the answer is always the same, "Because it was a piece of crap."

I'm not saying they are, but that many gun colleagues in my circle can't all be wrong.

The only gun I have ever bought and regretted spending money on, was a Ruger Super Blackhawk.

Not that there is anything inherently wrong with them, it's just that the recoil with full power loads hurts. Normally I am not recoil sensitive and while I wouldn't enjoy a long session shooting hard kicking guns, I consider shooting a box or two of ammo to be a normal range trip.

I bought it with the intention of using it for hunting various large animals so low power loads weren't going to do me any good. The way it recoiled quickly gave me a horrible flinch. I got lucky and sold it for what I had in it and then used the money to pick up a 1959 vintage S&W Model 29. I loved that Smith from the first shot and 42 years later I still have it (and a couple of others to boot).

Just for the heck of it, several years later, I tried shooting another SBH that belonged to a friend of mine. Yep I still hated the way they kick.
