I've been keen on getting a Beretta 1301. Just waiting to either find the model I want in stock, or wait until I leave this god forsaken state then buy. But I'd like to hear the responses in this thread.

My first experience with a shotgun is with a semi auto, to be specific its my Beretta 1301 Marine Tactical. So far zero malfunctions, i have shot 150 rounds of pure target loads only. To be honest, if shtf i feel competent enough to hit anything within 10 yards with this. I am self taught by the way. I am able to reload 2 shells at a time using the violin method. I have no point of comparison for I have not shot any other shotgun other than this. For me the manual of arms is very easy. Since this is the only long gun I have i learned to master it the best I can. This 1301 and My Glock 20sf is my Long and short combo.

IMHO, it boils down to either the Beretta 1301 or the Benelli M4. My Benelli was more expensive than my Beretta, with the Benelli quality a bit better. No issues out of the box with the Benelli. The Beretta needed some camoform wrap on the grip as the checkering was a bit harsh for me. No FTF or FTE with either as yet.

I don't use after market accessories, except for a WML. Recoil is the same even though the Beretta is lighter. Maintenance is the same. The Beretta bolt release button is nicer and larger from the factory. Both can be had with either a pistol grip or a standard stock. Both have an "H2O" type of finish available, decent sights and a pic rail from the factory. Finally, since this is Calguns, it depends.

So... If you want to impress your friends get the Benelli. If you want to impress yourself get the Beretta.

I've had a Mossberg 930spx for about 10 years. Cycles full power loads no problem. Birdshot sometimes for choked up. Haven't really put it thru it's paces.

If i were in the market now I'd take a hard look at the 1301 and tavor12.

They're owned by the same company. Even a lot of the parts are interchangeable.

I just bought the 1301 Tactical. There are some good threads buried in Shotgun with us discussing customizing and hot rodding the 1301 Tactical. Read the reviews and watch the videos, it's a superb HD gun, Beretta has a home run with it. M4 is badass too but a lot more money and at some point, you have to look at the overall value equation. I've only shot mine twice so far but from what I've experienced, it's the best value, fastest shooting and most reliable semi auto tactical shotgun available, I can't pull the trigger faster than the gun wants to cycle, the Blink gas system is well executed, it's just as fast as shooting an AR as far as cycling. If I was wealthy, I'd by an M4 too but I'm not so the Beretta will suffice. All of the Aridus accessories really take the 1301 to the next level, if you are so inclined.

OP, what are going to use it for? Hunting? Clay shooting? Home defense?

A great all around shotgun is the Beretta A300. I've got three of them. They run forever, feed anything, stay clean, and are soft shooting.

                  Plus they're under $700.

99% of tacticool shotguns don't get shot much. Don't waste your money on one unless you're going to use it.

REMINGTON VERSAMAX COMPETITION TACTICAL if you can find one. BERETTA 1301 Tactical, BENELLI M4, BENELLI M2, BERETTA A400 Xtreme or pro comp are all going to do the same but at higher price points. STOEGER M3K is a great shooting budget friendly option. I own all of the above and by far...the Versamax is my go to.

Agreed, the 1301 Tactical is really mostly useful for HD. It would not be my choice for most hunting except maybe for Turkey or Deer if you are in brush, short ranges? Terrible Clays gun. A lot of people who are looking at it want a two barrel set, one tactical length and one long and the 1301 T is NOT setup that way at all. I think you can do that with the A300, right YSR, have a two barrel setup?
