normally it is the same vendors who travel from show to show
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

The greatest gun snow on Earth was urban. At the LA County Fairgrounds in the 80s.

Not to be a jerk, but...

Went to the Chico Gun Show yesterday. Can only remember one table with beef jerky. WTF?

Sometimes a gun is just a gun.

I've never attended a gun show in CA, but I used to go to the Crossroads of the West show at the AZ fairgrounds 3-4x a year. Went to one in LV (it was the first show after the mass shooting after they cancelled one) and it was a fraction of the size of the one in AZ.

The last time I went to the AZ fairgrounds show was early 2020. It was less crowded than previous events.

Might head out there again before it gets too hot. Hopefully it's back to normal.

urban gun shows vs suburb or rural community

Yes, I can see the difference , the type of people at the urban shows like the COW PALACE , SF compared to a rural town gun show

the vendors always jack up the prices at urban gun shows , at least 30% or more? everything costs more , less likely to deal or haggle prices.

I forget if this was 5,000 tables and 8 miles or

8,000 tables and 5 miles to walk it all

pre 1986 when most of everything was for sale.....

                Gun Shows

Over the past 25 years I was regular at many gun shows, including Vallejo, Dixon, Lodi, Roseville, Auburn, Placerville, etc. But in my opinion, the best in recent years has been Yuba City. Of course, over the past few years, Covid has changed all of that. The next Yuba City Show is March 5 & 6 at the Yuba County Fairgrounds.

Got a friend interested in the Ontario Crossroads show in March. Last show I went to was the last one held at the LA county fairgrounds. Haven't been to one since.

I've heard the stories of how they are lately, but he's never been to one. Worth the trip to pop his cherry or just stick with local shops since there aren't deals to be had?

                  Thanks.

Go for the spectacle. It's always good for a noob to see thousands of guns and all the associated accessories assembled in one location, even if you've got to beat your way past the solar guys, timeshare shills, HVAC salesmen and the rest of the filler tables. If nothing else, he'll get to see that we're not a fringe minority.

Oh, he knows. He's been a "2A guy" for some time. He's also quite a bit older than me, too. But he's never had a friend who was also into firearms, so everything old is new again, you know?

But we may go simply because we have nothing better to do that weekend either.... =)

Saw this quote about one from last year that had me worried:

Guns are over priced and ammo is just another can of worms. That Gun show always have the same sellers trying to sell their junk at premium prices, realistically I think that they set up tables just so they can brag about their stuff they will not sell. Every show it seemed like the gun tables were being phased out and were getting replaced with jerky, kitchenware, women's clothing and fake jewelry.

Also saw one about the lines to get in at Orange County. Certainly don't want to spend the day waiting in line. We're both terribly impatient with that stuff and would rather have major dental work done without anesthetic than stand in line for an hour+ just to get in.

A day strolling even a "not that great" gun show is better than a day without anything gun related. But gun shows anywhere in California are a joke compared to AZ or other guns shows in America. The signal (guns, ammo accessories) to noise (anything not directly gun related) ratio is pretty lousy the past few years in California.

I did attend one of the Pomona/LA Fairplex shows in the 80s and I wasn't very avid into guns then (just had a couple of pistols and a shotgun) and wow, it was mind blowing. The good old days for sure.

I went to a show in Vegas last weekend. It was tiny compared to Orange County. About the equivalent of one of the buildings at OC, and I was able to go through the aisles in about a half hour at leisure walking up one side and down the other.

At the same point, it was like I walked into a time warp and went back 25 years ago based on what was available in the free world. I smiled on the inside... "These are my people!!"

No, I didn't break any laws.

I can't imagine the absolute torture of walking into a free state gun store again, or show....I just don't think I could bear it.
