I'd be nervous about shooting 1,000 yards in the desert when you can't control access to the area you are shooting at or across.

Its crazy you say that, about a prius. One time a guy off-roading in a Honda acord got in between me and my target luckily i was reloading my bolt action ����*♂️.
The distance was only about 150 yards and my easy up was clearly visible.
Always be aware of your surroundings.

I totally understand that . Last time I was out there I had been shooting pretty steady with some pretty loud stuff . Had a table a little shade umbrella I was checking out a new optic getting ready to squeeze one off and at the bottom of my sight picture is a little kid on a 50 cc dirt bike . ..freaked me out . I packed up and left ..well after I shot the side arm for a bit . But still conditions down range can change in literally a second ..still gives me the creeps thinking about if that kid would have been about a half of second slower . And I was wayyyyyy back in there had high ground bright colored truck . And yes I took out more trash then I could bring in for my next 5 trips . The amount of trash is truly disgusting . But what is more disgusting are the people that leave it .

Flat is actually not as good as gentle hills where you can see over the brush by shooting from one hill to a target on another hill.
Or shooting uphil where you can see the target on the hill and have a safe backdrop of other hills behind the target..

So what you want is a valley to shoot across where you can find 1000yds.

Hard to find here…. My buddy was able to find a place to shoot 600, but it was on a mountain shooting down into a ravine.

Get a 4 wheel drive. The desert vastness is your friend.
