When do you bust out the laser rangefinder?

When do you bust out the laser rangefinder? Haven't done a dumb poll in a while, forgot the overpriced bacon...

Never. It is built into my binoculars and I, when on stand, feel the need to range everything in sight.

Then, when something appears, I already know all the range(s) around me.

    Otherwise, I'd choose "B".

I use it to place targets when out in blm, and when golfing.

I literally saw a couple of guys use it to put a target down at 50, coordinating one or two steps back and forth...

We make it a game to range with scopes first and verify lrf.

I use it quite a bit for setting up practice targets. It's not so much that it needs to be *exact* distance, but I need to know which distance I'm shooting so I can put the time recorded by the timer into proper context. What looks like a great time at 10 yards might not be so great if it turns out to have been 7 yards...

Same as @IVC above - I bring it to all my practice sessions. The indoor ranges that I frequent don't have markings - using the rangefinder allows me to set the targets to the correct distances... Say for drills like a pushback from 5- to 25-yards.

I will range a few areas in the fields I am working to get my distances for holdovers as the terrain can be deceiving at times.

Setting up targets on BLM, and when using the precision rifle. And for fun on passing aircraft.

Only when what I'm shooting at bleeds and appears far enough to need to aim "off hair" or if I'm going to take a headshot at anything longer than 200yrds. Never at matches.

I use mine every now and then while hunting or target shooting. Never on the green as I would be sure to misplace it while looking for my beer.

Probably within a hour after I buy one, if I ever do. I'll be range finding everything until the batteries go dead hoping to develop my brain to judge range accurately.
