    6.5 Creedmoor question

Don't know anything about 6.5 Creedmoor (yet), but considering reloading for it (family member may pick up a rifle in this caliber).

In trying to compare components (and pricing) there are 2 projectile weights for 223 we reload; 55gr and 77gr.

Is there a similar/common equivalent of the 223 55/77gr "sweet spot" for 6.5 Creedmoor?

    Thoughts/comments/personal experiences appreciated.

    140g
    147g

120g if you like to shoot a fast bullet..
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

You gotta state what you are planning to do with it. 130, 140, and 147gr have bullets that are prime for LR, but if you're planning to hunt, it's gonna be a different story.

Agree. I reload 6.5 CM. I've settled on the 140 because my rifle likes to shoot Hornady's 140gn ELD-M factory ammo.

Since you are reloading, I'd buy a few boxes of different projectiles suited for your purpose and try them. Its really the only way to do it if you wanna optimize your load.

Shooting holes through paper @ 100 yrds for now.

You may wanna consider longer term goals. Almost any bullet will shoot quite accurately at 100 yards from 120 to 180 grains.

If you are going to develop a load for 100, might as well find a second and even a third purpose for the load you are about to develop.

            140 grain is pretty standard.

140 grain ELD-match, I use fired Federal brass with small magnum rifle primer, H4350 if you can find it, I use IMR 4064 right now. I compare my reloads with Hornady factory of same grain and bullet, I tune down just bit, so far my standard deviation are very close to Hornady factory, and the factory ones are very consistent, stdev of only 3! Mine is about 10

120gr to sling for fun. 140gr when you take it for results.

120gr or 140gr are the most common I'd say. If you also get a 6.5 Grendel, 120gr can be used for both. I use mostly SMKs or Hornady ELDs.

You could do a lot worse than trying to replicate the Hornady 140 gr ELD-match. It seems like every gun likes it.

Kind of a giant waste of money honestly. You could do that with a .17hmr.

Nothing beats lobbing 22lr out to 100 yards in 10mph wind. Best game of "who's paying for beers".

A friend was reloading for his M1A in 6.5 creedmoor.... 41.3gr H4350 in Hornady brass, 140gr Hornady BTHP Match bullets and CCI #34 primers. Didn't like the accuracy. I tried some in my Ruger Precision and accidentally found a load that is more accurate than any match grade factory ammo I have tried. Consistent 1 hole groups at 100 yrds and easily hits 8" steel at 900 yards.
