    1 dollar charge on ammo

Ok I understand there is a (unconstitutional) charge on ammunition here in our ever so nurturing state of California.
But as I was checking out of my local believers in non release on undetermined (sportsman warehouse) ,I noticed a 1 dollar charge on my receipt.. but I had bought PROJECTILES not "AMMUNITION".
Is it just me or is this another one of those situations where I missed my 3am 10 min window to vote against this ****uation or has this been the case all along and every other place that I have purchased projectiles at just forgot to jack me for a buck ?

Here's the definition from the Penal Code:
                    16150.

                    (a) As used in this part, except in subdivision (a) of Section 30305 and in Section 30306, “ammunition” means one or more loaded cartridges consisting of a primed case, propellant, and with one or more projectiles. “Ammunition” does not include blanks.

                    (b) As used in subdivision (a) of Section 30305 and in Section 30306, “ammunition” includes, but is not limited to, any bullet, cartridge, magazine, clip, speed loader, autoloader, ammunition feeding device, or projectile capable of being fired from a firearm with a deadly consequence. “Ammunition” does not include blanks.

                    (c) This section shall become operative on July 1, 2020.
                    (b) confuses some folks - here are 30305 and 30306:
                    30305.

                    (a) (1) No person prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 29800) or Chapter 3 (commencing with Section 29900) of Division 9 of this title, or Section 8100 or 8103 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, shall own, possess, or have under custody or control, any ammunition or reloaded ammunition.
                    ...

                    30306.

                    (a) Any person, corporation, firm, or other business enterprise who supplies, delivers, sells, or gives possession or control of, any ammunition to any person who he or she knows or using reasonable care should know is prohibited from owning, possessing, or having under custody or control, any ammunition or reloaded ammunition pursuant to subdivision (a) or (b) of Section 30305,
Lots of things, including projectiles, are forbidden to prohibited persons but that is NOT the general definition of ammunition.

Asking for your $ back seems like a good idea.

                        Sportsmans did you wrong.
There is no background check on components.

Because that's not what the law allows the state to charge.
You should lobby to get the DROS fee reduced to $1.

                          Good luck with that.
The state makes millions of extra dollars each year from DROS fees that they then rob from the DROS fees account and move over to the general fund where they funnel it to criminals and illegals through various social programs.

Wouldn't a customer be aware that a backround check was being performed. Don't they have to get your info? Or are they charging the fee and not doing the backround check?

Didn’t we lose a case over that or is it still going on?

ETA: We lost. (Somebody please correct me if I am wrong of if there’s another similar case ongoing.)
